It's great to have you posting your insights again, Tom. I missed them!

I heard it said before that the reason God gave us two ears and one mouth was because we needed to listen twice as much as we spoke!

And to be doers and not hearers only....don't we always need that reminder?

Capture the Flag and 5th & 6th grade camp is intense!

I missed you by a week. I was at Deeper Life the week after you. In fact it is the only week I'm doing at MCSC this year. Can you believe that? I'll be at camp with Granger Community next week. Oh how I love camp.

You are never going to believe who I'm having coffee with tomorrow morning. Dean Trune! It made me think of you so I thought I would stop by the blog and see how things are going. Tell the family I said hello!

Thanks Jesse!

I think "it seems to always end in God's glory" because at least one party to the "left out" situation remains faithful in their committment to pursuing God. Even with the hurt, "God works all things to good, to those who love Him, who are called according to His purposes." This gives the appearance of "that is what was supposed to happen".

However, as I will discuss when I get around to part three, there is a better way. I often wonder in personal examples -- yes, God used my getting fired and my feeling excluded to move me into more effective ministry, but I can't help but believe there was a better way for that to happen. The sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas was effective in increasing the spread of the gospel because they both were committed to faithfully pursuing God, but surely there was a better way for that to be accomplished without the "sharp disagreement".

Anyhow, that's my conclusion at least. And that's a preview of part three, Sent Out -- the better way.

wow - very good thoughts. i really appreciate your blog - have i ever told you that?

i have seen examples of both of these during my experience with church, and even though there is hurt with being left out - it seems to always end in God's glory. we end up looking back and thinking "that is what was supposed to happen" or something like that.

this is hard for me to fully process though - becasue i am so relational. for me i can't image ever parting ways with anyone. i try to be so agreeable and flexible and sensitive, so i can't imagine having such a disagreement that ends in something good.

anyway, good thoughts - i have to think on this more.

Hmmmm! I am thinking... yeah, definitely no fun being thrown out! Those bruises do tend to last awhile.

You are right about the people who get hurt in all the confusion. That is the real heart breaker about WHCC is that there are a lot of people who we may have been able to touch. It is now left up to trusting God that he will put in place and use someone else. That is where the hope has to lay, in the knowledge that God will still reach out to those who need him.
